STEP 1 OF 4: Select Your Lens
STEP 4 OF 4: Choose Lenses Material
A high index lens provides a number of benefits to the wearer:
- Are thinner and less noticeable in the profile of the glasses.
- High index lenses reduce eye distortion. (also known as the "coke bottle" effect)
- These lenses are more lightweight making the glasses more comfortable to wear.
I wanted to try to buy a pair of Vint & York glasses online, so I took a leap of faith and went for it. Well, it turned out just ok. The frames are exactly as described and nice. The lenses are good but the photochromatic lenses just don't get very dark. I like my transitions to get VERY dark. These are a light tint. Initially, I thought they didn't darken at all. I even asked for an exchange. I discovered that they require direct sunlight. How often do you stare into the sun? I don't at all. While walking down the streets of Beverly Hills (where I live) they barely darken at all. In my convertible, if I have to tilt my head back and get into direct sunlight for them to darken. Not great for me.
Beautiful frames! Solid construction, classy - just what I've been looking for.
